Arrest of culprits demanded
ITANAGAR, April 22: All Tali Pip Sorang Youth Welfare Association today demanded immediate arrest of culprits involved in alleged destruction of ferry at Kamla River between Kuwa and Tali in Kra Daadi District, believed to be the only means to transport machineries and goods to Tali ADC headquarter.
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, the association stated that Tali PWD Division is struggling for the construction of bridge over the Kamla River for last few years, and to transport men and machineries, the contractor made a ferryboat which was deliberately destroyed by the miscreants. It urged the authority to arrest the persons involved in the condemnable activities. The ferry was reportedly damaged by miscreants on April 7 last. Tali MLA Markio Tado also demanded the arrest of culprit at a press conference held on April 16 last.

Govt to institute enquiry
ITANAGAR, Apr 22: The Press fraternity of the state is pained by the incident of last night at Naharlagun, wherein senior journalist and Editor of Arunachal Front, Pradeep Kumar Behera was attacked by unknown miscreants nearby his office at Industrial Complex, A sector Naharlagun.
The incident happened when Mr. Behera tried to pacify a petty argument between his driver and an intoxicated youth on a bike.
The Press fraternity consisting of Arunachal Press Club, Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and Arunachal Electronic Media Association has expressed their concern over the normal security scenario in the Capital Complex. Assuming that it was a stray incident not aimed at the Press, but the fraternity feels that the incident reflects the moral decay of society.
APC President, Chopa Cheda while condemning the incident has called for apprehending the culprit(s) involved in the attack on the senior journalist.
Meanwhile, the state government has condemned the incident of physical attack on Pradeep Kumar, and his driver by an unidentified miscreant on Tuesday evening.
On being apprised about the incident, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has directed Home Minister Tanga Byaling to institute a thorough enquiry into the matter.

Two Arunachalee students racially abused
BENGALURU, Apr 22: Two journalism students from Arunachal Pradesh were racially abused by four people at Shantinagar Bus Stand on Tuesday evening.
While the youth was also allegedly assaulted, his cousin was sexually harassed. The two, who migrated to the city two years ago for their undergraduate studies, were returning home when they were accosted by two people around 8.45 PM.

43rd Passing out Parade ceremony
ITANAGAR, Apr 22: Home Minister Tanga Byaling today called upon the police to maintain discipline and discharge their duties with dedication keeping the moral values high and serve the society as true police personnel.
Addressing the passing out parade ceremony of 43rd batch recruit constables at Police Training Centre (PTC), Banderdewa, the minister also advised the personnel not to indulge in any act which is unbecoming of police men and to maintain physical fitness for performing their duty effectively.
The minister gave away the trophies and certificates to the constables who had excelled in their performances and congratulated all the trophy winners and others recruit personnel.
In his address, Director General of Police (DGP) S Nithianandam highlighted in detailed on the intensive training curriculum the recruits had to undergo both indoor and outdoor. He stated that the recruits have been taught about the fundamental knowledge and skills to make them professionally competent police personnel to face any kind of challenges while discharging their duties. Emphasis was also given on the protection of Human Rights, gender sensitization and traffic management and regulation, the DGP said adding that they were also taught about drug abuses, trafficking and the methods to deal with it. An insight was given on awareness and sensitization on tourism policy.
The DGP also called upon the newly passing out police men to maintain discipline and discharge their duties with dedication.
A total of 342 recruit constables of Arunachal Pradesh Police including 212 constables of Civil Police, 4 AAPBn, 116 IRBn and 11 Head Constables (Telecom) passed out from PTC after undergoing rigorous indoor and outdoor training for twelve months in a spectacular passing out parade ceremony.
While L/RC Deken Badak won the trophy as all round best (civil), L/RC Nangbia Penu was adjudged all round best in IRBn/AAPBn.
All round best (BOC) trophy was conferred to R/HC (T) Tapi Apa, while L/RC Sangey Chotten won the best in Indoor (Civil) trophy.

Apang, societies mourn Sunjoy’s death
ITANAGAR, Apr 22: Former Chief Minister Gegong Apang deeply mourned the untimely death of Tassar Sunjoy yesterday.
According to family sources, Sunjoy breathed his last at his Jollang residence after a brief illness.
He is survived by three wives and nine children.
Expressing deep shock and grief over his death, Apang in a condolence message recalled Sunjoy as active social worker who dedicated his life for the cause of the people of entire state.
“His death has created a huge vacuum. I will always cherish his fond memories as he worked with me in various capacities in his eventful social life” Apang said, and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

School building on verge of collapse
ITANAGAR, Apr 22: Schools with dilapidated building are common sight in this state and the Jime Primary School under Daring circle of West Siang district is not an exception.
The Primary school located at one of the remotest areas of Daring circle has been lying in a dilapidated condition for years for want of maintenance reflecting sheer negligence on part of the authority concerned, informed Ego Banggo Peoples Forum.
Describing the horrible condition of the school after making an inspection of it recently, the Forum informed that the school is standing somehow with its four pillars and wooden structure without doors, windows. The school building devoid of doors, windows, wall and fencing is becoming a resting place for stray animals causing an unhygienic condition and creating problem for the students in the school, the Forum said.

Kampu Hollen gives ray of hope to orphan children

ITANAGAR, Apr 22: Renu Bengde never imagined that she would establish an NGO at the tender age of 20, especially for underprivileged and orphan children to care and support their schooling. She is the Chairperson of Kampu Hollen Welfare Organisation, a charity based NGO to help and support the orphan children in getting admission in various schools.
It has established way back in 2012 at Model village Seppa in East Kameng district but was not registered till November 2014 under Societies Registration Act 1860.
Kampu Hollen embarked on the noble journey with an orphan child whom it had facilitated
to get admission in Holy Family School, Seppa in 2012. Each passing year, the number
of orphan children keeps on increasing. It has presently 13 children including two
from below poverty line and one from Puroik community. From each area such as Bameng,
Chayang Tajo, Seppa and Pakke-
Renu along with her friend YagiamTungi, General Secretary of the organisation with the help of volunteers so far has managed to provide education to the children in Oju Mission school Naharlagun, Gyan Mission Orphanage Itanagar and at Citizen School, Divine World, Lalbahadur, KGBV, Gracious School in Seppa.
She informed that to get admitted in the school, particular child must possess required documents such as Schedule Tribes Certificate, PRC, Birth Certificate and Orphan Certificate.
“Our endeavour would be to help and shape the future of neglected children especially orphan and under privileged child” said the Chairperson.
Kampu Hollen is battling all odds to keep the hopes alive, as there are hardly any philanthropists who have come forward to help the school.
“Fund is always been issue, however we are trying our best to manage it” Bengde added.
She also felt if the district administration extends help by allocating plot of land to the organisation, it would be icing on cake to expand the charity organisation in the service of orphan and underprivileged children.

Politics over tragic death of a farmer
The tragic death of a farmer who committed suicide today during AAP's rally in Delhi against the controversial land acquisition bill has taken political colour. Unfortunately even after a farmer committed suicide in the heart of national capital over failed crops, the politicians are busy attacking each other and not worrying about the cause of farmers. The dramatic death of Gajendra Singh, a father of three, immediately turned into a political drama, with the Aam Aadmi Party blaming Delhi Police and the BJP and the Congress attacking Kejriwal and the AAP.
It is shameful on the part of political parties to indulge in political slugfest
over such heartbreaking incident. Instead of blaming each other, they should rally

in ensuring participative and good governance in Arunachal Pradesh. Ideally, in a
democracy, rule of law ought to be the supreme proposition, under which every citizen

Article 360 of the Constitution viz. financial emergency in Arunachal Pradesh is
nothing but foolish wisdom of the highest order. Those who demand financial emergency
should also convey to the people that Article 360 has never been imposed in Indian
history even during the late 80s when India had to airlift national gold reserves
as a pledge to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in exchange for a loan to cover
balance of payment debts which arguably has been the worst financial crisis since
India's independence. The reason for non-
The argument should be that, if at all there is financial crisis of such proposition as the opposition alleges, the government of the day should encourage and ensure increase in private/foreign investment in various sectors on public–private partnership model especially in areas that have huge potential in Arunachal like tourism, horticulture, food processing, infrastructure, etc.
Additionally, extension of executive authority of the Union in the domain of the state, by virtue of Article 360, will be against the principle of federalism enshrined in the Constitution and may even cause reduction of salaries and allowances of all or any class of persons employed by/serving in connection with the affairs of a State. This will weaken the purchasing power of the people and will , therefore, only push the demand curve and the economy on the downhill creating further economic crisis.
Pressure should be to make the State government work over time to ensure that financial
health of the State is recouped and that the Center extends its full support to this
strategically important state without any political bias. On its part, people should
venture into service sector, the highest employment giver in India, and self employment.
Dignity of labour should be maintained. Dependency on government for employment will

Teachers have always been compared to gods in our scriptures. Though our society
is very loud-
But here I am going to bring to light another example of discrimination that we teachers are facing.
On 16th April I went to SBI Daporijo to avail personal loan. On enquiry I came to know that all govt. employees are given loan provision of their net salary multiplied to 18 months but for teachers the provision is for 12 months only.
I protest and ask SBI why this discrimination and inequality? Why are teachers not kept at par with other employees? How can a bank like SBI show such discrimination between employees?
I felt very insulted and this fact which came to light has not only hurt my pride of being a teacher but also has made me feel inferior to other employees. It is gross injustice and clear discrimination. I demand the SBI officials to come out with proper justification for this sort of discrimination against teachers.
My voice also goes out to the cabinet members of ATA and AAPETA. What are you all doing? Are you hibernating or have you gone blind, deaf and dumb? Instead of blaming each other over petty and silly issues like collection of membership fees, why don’t you raise issues which will benefit the whole teaching community? We, serving in the districts expect a lot from you, who are in the capital and are at the helm of affairs. But you are so silent.
When former minister Kalikho Pul disclosed about the misuse of GPF and NPS, we expected strong reaction from COSAAP and ATA but you maintained total silence. It was as if no one cared. Nobody wanted to know whether our hard earned money which we are saving for our retirement is really safe or not?
Only a person from Khonsa wrote about it in Readers Forum of The Arunachal Times. You may not worry but we in the districts really want to know if our money is safe or not? It is the duty of heads of service associations like ATA and COOSAAP to bring these things to light.
I wish to point out one more example, where we teachers are being discriminated.
When the order that govt, teachers should not engage themselves in tuition, nobody
reacted. Only Tongam Rina wrote few lines in a column about it. I very much agree
that, if a teacher engages himself in tuitions during his regular duty hours then
he is guilty and it is wrong. But what is wrong, if a teacher utilizes his spare
time in productive activity like taking tuition. If the government is hell-
My views and opinion may hurt some but it is for the greater interest of the teaching community. Truth is bitter and the bitter truth is that, teachers are facing discrimination and insult. We are being beaten by students, discriminated and meted out with unequal treatment by banks and our individual freedom curtailed by stupid orders but we are still doing our duty silently; the duty of building the future of our nation in classrooms. In return, all that we want is a little respect honestly given and equal opportunities always.
